Friday the 20th of May was National Walk Safely To School Day. To celebrate this event and as a chance to promote active transport amongst our college body, we organised to run Baldivis Secondary College's fourth Footprint Friday event. The students are now recognising that Footprint Friday is being run as a regular Junior Green Team event and more and more students are getting involved and engaging in taking active transport to school. It is fantastic to see students chasing me around the school after hearing their names called over the PA as winners for our Footprint Friday events, to claim their prizes. Again, after starting the day with breakfast at Breakfast Club (thanks Ms Taylor), we saw some amazing efforts put in by our Junior Green Team members in facilitating the event and helping it run smoothly. Now that our Junior Green Team know the drill and are experts at running Footprint Friday's, myself and Miss Gillett are finding that we can now go out on Footprint Friday mornings and have engaging conversations with students, staff and parents regarding our aim for these events and have some fun doing so! We also managed to hand out a bunch of VIVO tickets to students who were wearing their helmets while riding safely to school! Well done guys!! Until next time... Stay tuned for Footprint Friday number 5 which will happen towards the end of Term 2.
