It's time once again to roll out BSC's famous Year 7 transition workshop with the aim of encouraging our upcoming group of Year 7 students to be active in their travel to and from school when they join the college next year. For the last two years, we have asked teachers at our college to run the workshop with their Year 7 classes in the first few weeks of Term 1 and have had some great success with education the new Year 7's about the resources available to help them walk, ride and bus to school.

This year, we decided to get in early and have our Green Team students present the workshop to the Year 6 students at Rivergums Primary School. The Green Team have been working hard to prepare and practise the workshop during our Green Team meetings in the last few weeks and the workshops will take place at Rivergums this coming Monday.

The aim is to give the Year 6 students the confidence to be able to walk, ride and catch the bus to school when they start at Baldivis Secondary, next year. Our workshops run through the resources we have available to make active travel safe and easy such as the Your Move website journey planner, the footpath stencils, the BSC Access Map and we also discuss frequently asked questions about TransPerth services and Smartriders. We also have some prizes to give away to some lucky, active Year 6's.

Watch this space on Monday for an update of how the Green Team go with presenting their workshops!

I like the innovation of taking the transition activity to the primary schools - that has earned you 15 innovation points, plus you earned 10 points for letting us know all the details. To earn points for the actual activity don't forget to let us know how it all goes (as if I really need to say that!).
