Ride2Work Day with urbi - Edith Cowan College

This story is related to National Ride2Work Day

Ride2Work 2018 coincided with Orientation Day for new students at ECC, so urbi was there to introduce them to Joondalup's bike-share scheme. All ECU students/staff are currently enjoying free urbi use, and we've expanded the network with a new station at the College.

With many of the students new to Australia, about 35 people took the opportunity to go for group rides with our cycling coach Mel, learning about bike safety, road rules, and the best routes to take around Joondalup:

There was also a stationary bike challenge to see could cycle the longest distance in 30 seconds:

ECU taking their free rides

urbi Bike-share made an impact at ECU Joondalup's recent Student Health & Wellness Expo, where staff and students currently get free access to unlimited 45-minute rides. The urbi team were on hand to help riders install the urbi smartphone app and apply promo codes - then taking a free ride was as simple as going to a campus urbi station, hiring a bike and helmet, and within 45 minutes of hiring returning the bike to any urbi station in Joondalup City Centre or on campus.

New urbi stations have been added outside the Police Academy and Edith Cowan College. The stations (below) are fully portable by forklift, so they can be moved around to meet demand.

Free rides with urbi Bike-share for ECU Joondalup

During the spring of 2018 all students and staff at ECU Joondalup have full access to urbi Bike-share for free, with no deposit.

Urbi promo codes are available at the Student Guild, and users can apply the code in the urbi smartphone app to get free, unlimited 45-minute rides.

There are four urbi Bike-share docks on campus, as well as one at ECU College. It's a short ride between the campus and Joondalup Town Centre, where there are six docks in key locations like the Train Station, Lakeside Shopping Centre, and Joondalup Health Campus.

People who take two or more rides will also go into a prize draw.
