Walkability seminar with Rodney Tolley & Paula Hooper

This story is related to Attend Your Move Professional Development Session

Congratulations to the leadership team and staff from City of Cockburn, and the Your Move team, for presenting such a high calibre walkability forum. To have such a body of research and insights shared so freely and in such an engaging and practical manner was exceptional. I wanted to hear more! My key learning from Rodney was to think about improving walkability seperately from cycling, as one can impact the other. And from Paula, the focus on what actually works from Liveable Neighbourhood policy and building on that, as well as understanding where it isn't working or being complied with. Also a big kudos to City of Cockburn Mayor, Engineering and Planning Directors for demonstrating such leadership in the area of walkability throughout Cockburn Central, and sharing with us. Fascinating and brilliant speakers. Thank you Your Move Team.

It was a glorious morning to be in the stunning Memorial Park Armadale, doing all our favourite things; eating breakfast, drinking coffee and talking about cycling! Thanks to the city of Armadale to hosting, and all the people who rode to work for the very first time, awesome, well done! And thanks to the Armadale cycling group for arriving in numbers and boosting attendance to around 30 people. Not bad for our first Ride 2 work day. We had people who had ridden 500km the preceding weekend, to those starting out and looking to ride to work, or join the local cycling group. Thanks so much for the giveaways from Your Move, everyone went away with goodies and felt great about cycling in beautiful Armadale, perfect for cycling. Long stretching flat bike paths, and stunningly beautiful hills challenging hills, something for everyone!

From Novice to Cycling Converts

This story is related to Write your first story

In 2017 six City of Armadale staff participated in the E Bike trial run by Switch Your Thinking. Although mostly novice cyclists, by the end of the trial the group were commuter cycling converts. Two staff members purchased their own bicycles to continue their active journey to work and the others have continued to cycle recreationally. We are planning to run some cycle skills workshops in 2018 and hope to see more staff pushing their pedals.
