Walk to School Award

This story is related to Start a Regular Active Travel Day

Every week, school Prefects go around to each classroom on a Wednesday afternoon to survey students about their walk to school routine. The classroom with the largest proportion of students gets to take 'Gerry the Giraffe' back to their classroom for 2 whole weeks! It's class against class - we still can't manage the younger year level classes to win over the older students but we're working on it!

Latest results: Week 6 & 7 in Term 4

THE WINNER IS...ROOM 8 with 65% of the class walking to school over the 2 week period.

Walking School Bus Breakfast

NCPS Walking School Bus BREAKFAST-7.jpg (1)

Wednesday 27th November saw parents and students diverge on North Cottesloe Primary School for a breakfast to celebrate good weather, getting some excercise and reducing the amount of cars on our local roads. Our students access the school within peak periods where traffic is a problem. To alleviate the congestion, the school will look to re-launch a Walking/Riding School Bus in 2020. This event attempted to promote the use of our very good pedestrian pathways and the new PSP bike path right outside the school gates (or just about!). Next step - a survey in the hope of generating more enthusiasm and support for an ongoing Walk/Ride To School program in the form of a School Bus. What a wonderful event!

Ride/Walk to School at North Cottesloe PS

This story is related to Run a breakfast event

With mountains of help from a dedicated North Cottesloe parents,we were able to host our first annual Ride/Walk to School breakfast on the morning of Friday 22nd March. Our fabulous parents help chop, sizzle and pour our way to feeding 244 people while they made their way by bike or by foot to our wonderful school. Statistics gathered indicated that 25 dozen eggs, 20 loaves of bread, 40L of milk, 6 whole watermelons and a large box of apples were consumed - we must have gone the distance! Thanks to the generosity of the Town of Cottesloe and WALGA we were able to secure a grant and the assistance of our local IGA in Swanbourne to provide the food. We were also lucky enough to have official Town of Cottesloe representatives come along in support of the event to give out stickers and raffle tickets. TBE were able to supply at discounted prices some great giveaways. It was a real family atmosphere and was so well received, we're definitely doing it again...soon!
