To celebrate Bike Month and National Ride2Work Day, we hosted a Bike2Work Brekky at our Town’s Admin Centre.
We had 15 staff attend the morning with a mix of regular and not-so-regular riders, enjoying sharing tales of their morning ride with a tasty free BBQ breakfast. Staff were encouraged to ride from home or even just part-way by parking their car further away and riding the rest of the way. This was promoted on our staff intranet and by a calendar invite sent to all staff.
On the morning we provided free bike locks, helmets, bells, and bike servicing with a visit from The Mobile Bike Mechanic. Dave is a great supporter of our local community and a local resident himself.
We hosted this event to connect staff and raise awareness of the benefits of biking to work and around our Town. It was great timing to launch our new improved End-of-Trip facilities, with better allocation of bike spaces enabling more staff to ride. Changeroom facilities have been renovated from drab to fab, with fresh showers and lockers to make it easy for staff to make their commute more active or move more in their lunchbreak.
This event was led by our Well @ Work team through Community Development and funded through budget allocated to support staff wellness and active transport.
By getting on our bikes we’re saving lives, cutting carbon emissions, and boosting our cardiovascular health. To boot we’re saving petrol money and time spent stuck in traffic! The benefits of riding are limitless 😊

Hey Lisa - great to see you taking up the reins at ToVP 😁. And doubly good to see a story posted for the first time since 2020 😉. It looks like you have all been busy over there though. Lots of points too - 40 for your NR2WD event, 50 for the bike checks, 120 points for the big refurb of your end-of-trip facilities and a final 20 points for an engaging story! Enjoy Bike Month and see you soon 😃.
