2025-26 Connecting Schools Grant projects announced!

We’re excited to share that 51 schools across Western Australia have been awarded funding through the 2025–26 Connecting Schools Grant, with more than $325,000 supporting active travel in school communities.

Delivered through the Your Move program, the Connecting Schools Grant helps schools improve active travel by funding bike and scooter infrastructure, education programs and initiatives that make walking and riding to school safer and more accessible.

Supporting active travel in school communities
The Connecting Schools Grant is a State Government initiative led by the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure and jointly funded with the Department of Education. Since launching in 2018, the grant has invested more than $1.4 million in Western Australian schools to support healthy, active and sustainable school travel.

Funding is available to schools engaged in the Your Move program and is designed to:
  • improve bicycle and walking access and infrastructure
  • build skills and confidence for walking, riding and scooting
  • support a positive culture of active travel within school communities.
This year’s funded projects include:
  • bike and scooter parking infrastructure
  • bike education and safety programs
  • balance bike programs and road safety initiatives
  • bike libraries and creative, school-led innovation projects.
Grants were awarded across four funding levels - Silver, Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum - based on each school’s Your Move accreditation level and project scope.

Congratulations to all recipients. We can’t wait to see the positive impact these projects have in school communities over the year ahead. A full list of funded projects can be found on the Connecting Schools Grant webpage.

The 2026-27 grant round will open later this academic year. Schools interested in applying for future Connecting Schools Grant rounds can:
