Term 1 has been a whirlwind of active travel initiatives across our schools, and the energy has been fantastic! From enthusiastic participation in hands-up surveys to action-packed National Ride2School Day events, students, teachers and communities have embraced getting active on their journeys to and from school.
Strong Start with Hands Up Surveys
One hundred and fifty-four schools kicked off the year by participating in the start of year hands up survey. These surveys provide invaluable data, allowing schools to understand how their students are currently travelling and identify opportunities to encourage more active modes like walking, scooting and riding. The high level of participation demonstrates a strong commitment from our school communities to prioritise the health, well-being and environmental benefits of active travel. This data will be crucial in shaping future initiatives and tracking our progress towards a more active school commute culture.
National Ride2School Day: A Roaring Success!
This year's National Ride2School Day was another resounding success, with schools across WA showcasing incredible enthusiasm for getting to school in a more active way. We saw a fantastic display of colourful bike decorations, full bike racks and fun activities that celebrated the joy and benefits of riding. It was inspiring to witness so many students, teachers and parents embracing two wheels for their journey to school. The energy and excitement on the day were palpable, highlighting the positive impact of this annual event in promoting active travel and building a sense of community.
