Your Move Awards 2024

On Wednesday, 4 December, we were thrilled to host the 2024 Your Move Awards at Beaumonde on the Point in East Perth. It was fantastic to have so many Your Move schools, Champions, students, and local government and industry stakeholders join us for this special event.

The morning kicked off with an inspiring welcome from Ms. Meredith Hammat MLA, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport. We were then honoured to have Rhiannon Clarke, Australian Paralympic athlete, share her journey of how physical activity shaped her childhood and contributed to her sporting success.

The awards presentation followed, where we celebrated our outstanding finalists and announced the well-deserved winners (see the winners list below). Ms. Meredith Hammat MLA presented the certificates to our winners, recognising their dedication and hard work in promoting active travel.

An engaging panel discussion was held later in the morning, discussing What’s next for walking, wheeling, and riding to school in WA’. The panel featured:
  • Massimo Galardi, a parent at Lathlain Primary School, who shared insights into their innovative bike bus program.
  • Danielle Stone, Senior Project Officer at the Department of Transport, who spoke about the recent school open streets trials.
  • Sandy Cooke, Your Move Champion at Scarborough Primary School, who gave a personal account of her experience as a dedicated Your Move Champion.
The event wrapped up with a creative and interactive activity, where attendees wrote their goals for boosting active travel on pieces of a jigsaw that came together to form a Your Move bicy-goal, - as named by our brilliant MC, Abid Imam.

It was an inspiring morning filled with celebration and exciting ideas for the future of active travel in WA. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful event!
